Movie or TV Series Plot
Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore) are a deeply in-love couple who have just bought a New York apartment together.
Sam works as an investment banker, while Molly invests her time renovating their apartment.
One night after leaving the theater, the couple comes face-to-face with a robber. The robber demands their possessions, a fight ensues, and Sam gets shot and dies in Molly’s arms.
Molly is inconsolable as she deals with the loss of her love; however, Sam’s ghost has to get a message to her. His death was more than a random robbery—he was murdered.
Sam finds, what seems to be a fake psychic, Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Golberg) that can hear him. He enlists the help of Oda Mae so he can get a message to Molly--before it’s too late.
Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) and Molly Jensen (Demi Moore) are a happy couple who have just moved into a new apartment in New York City. Sam is a banker and the same night he confronts his coworker and friend, Carl (Tony Goldwyn) about money discrepancies at the bank, Sam is shot and killed by an apparent mugger while out with Molly.
As soon as he dies, Sam’s spirit rises above his body--witnessing Molly upset below. He soon discovers he is a ghost and Molly cannot see him.
Sam follows Molly home and watches as Carl comes over to console her. He suggests they take a walk and she heads out the door with him. Sam is not able to follow them and instead observes his killer sneaking into the house—apparently looking for something. Sam is able to scare him off by startling the cat who attacks the killer.
Intent on protecting Molly from the killer he believes is after her, he enlists the help of a psychic, Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg), but because of Oda Mae’s dark past, Molly does not believe her when she tries to warn him.
Meanwhile, Sam begins putting the pieces together about his murder and discovers Carl was involved. Desperate to stop Carl and save Molly, Sam must learn how to manage his ghostly powers and get through to Molly before it’s too late.
