Con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) and his partner in crime Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) are quite the sneaky duo, but when they are caught by FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper), DiMaso will only let them off the hook if they agree to help him con somebody else. Immediately, they are thrown into the world of glamorous politics. They must take down Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner), a New Jersey politician who truly wants the best for the people of New Jersey, but finds himself dangerously straddling the line between right and wrong.

With Richie, Sydney and Irving ready to catch him as soon as he slips, they keep a close eye on him and prepare to take him down. Along the way, Irving’s crazy wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) gets in the way and her involvement could threaten the entire operation.
