Letters to Julie is a touching yet playful love story, a tale of sparkling young love, but also of the resurrection of a love seemingly lost long ago. When young American Sophie (Amanda Seyfried, best known for the hit musical Mamma Mia!) arrives in Verona, Italy, she meets a group of volunteers. Their job is to answer letters that eager women insert into gaps in the walls of an ancient house that, according to legend, witnessed the passionate and tragic love of Romeo and Juliet. It is here that Sophie discovers a letter written fifty years ago! And this moment will change not only Sophie's life, but many other people's as well. The enterprising girl manages to find the writer of the letter, Claire (Vanessa Redgrave), who comes to Italy with her grandson (Christopher Egan), and together they set out to find Lorenzo, whom Claire abandoned half a century ago... And what role will Claire's fiancé Victor (Gael García Bernal) play in the story?

Film locations

Letters to Juliet does not "hide" its film locations, and that's great: if the actors are in Verona, they are in Verona. Likewise, Sienna and the main actors' hometown, New York, appear in the film.
