Joy's life isn't easy: despite being top of her class, she gives up her college studies to help her mother, who is in the process of divorcing her father. She marries a man who wants to live his life instead of providing for his family and his two children. In addition, even two years after the divorce, Joy lives in the basement of the house where she is cooped up with her children, grandmother, and mother, whose only entertainment all day is watching silly soap operas.

Joy has plenty of ideas, but the one about a dog collar that keeps the dog from suffocating is blown by another company. One day, however, Joy comes up with a revolutionary mop that is set to change the way we clean our homes forever. But there's no overnight success to speak of: no one wants the mop and Joy's debts are only mounting. Until it goes on an explosive telesales spree...
