In his comedic roles, Pierre Richard always appears as a clumsy hero who can cause major disasters. In this film, he plays lawyer Jean-Philippe Duroc, who leaves Paris to visit his client in prison, Martial Gaulard. Accused of murder, he tells him that his appeal has been rejected, making him eligible for the death penalty. As he learns the terrible news, a riot breaks out: Gaulard takes advantage of the situation to escape, dragging his poor lawyer along with him in a wild chase.
