Charlie Bucket lives with his parents and grandparents in a dilapidated house. They are poor, but they love each other and would never abandon one another. Nearby is a giant chocolate factory where Charlie's grandfather once worked and met the owner, Willy Wonka, in person. Charlie, who loves chocolate, dreams of visiting the factory one day, but this seems impossible until Willy Wonka announces a competition in which five children from around the world will be able to spend a day at the factory. All they have to do is find a golden ticket in one of the chocolate bars...
